We didn't really take any good pictures of the basement before we started our demolition. The pics in this post are from November of 2003, after we started demolition. We were prepping for the drain tile work that was going to be done in early December, so we had to move all furnishings away from the perimeter of the basement. And then we had to cover it all with plastic. (This explains the huge pile of junk right in the middle of the room in some of the later pictures!)
In the bedroom, we had already disassembled the desk in preparation for the drain tile installation, and the pieces are all piled on top of the bed. You can't really tell b/c of the curtains, but we still had our teeny little basement window in at this point. Notice the pretty green linoleum and the cardboard tile drop ceiling?

We opted to leave the wood walls up in this room only, but put in an egress window and sheetrocked the ceiling. No more green linoleum tile!

Next, the same view from August of 2006. Looks a little different! We gutted this room down to the bare concrete block. Then we plasticed, furred out and insulated the walls, replaced the ceiling with wood planking, replaced all the drafty windows, moved a couple doorways to more intuitive areas, put in quite a few more lights (so it's not so dark!), added electrical outlets for ease of use, all new trim, sheetrocked around the ducting, moved a hallway so you can use the bathroom without having to walk into the laundry room, and carpeted. Is that it? Seems like it was so much more when we were doing it...
